Wigs are very important, they are part of every cosplay, unless the hair color of the cosplayer matches the hair color of the character he is bringing to life. There are many different cosplay wigs on the market, but we are going to discuss synthetic cosplay wigs, as they are much popular among the cosplayers. Synthetic cosplay wigs are cheap and they look good, there is no need of purchasing the expensive natural hair wigs. Taking care of the synthetic cosplay wig is pretty easy and if you take a good care of your wig, it will last for long and look fresh after every “grooming”

Before washing your wig, gently brush it with a brush and make sure that there are no tangles. It takes time, but it’s very important.

           Wig care supplies

After the wig is nicely brushed, fill the bowl with a cold water and add the wig shampoo, I don’t recommend using the regular human shampoo, or any real hair products on your wig, the human hair product will shorten the “life” of your wig and it might lose a lot of synthetic hair. Don’t rub it while washing, gently run your fingers inside of the wig and be very careful with the wig cap. Rinse the wig in a cold water, make sure that you rinse all the shampoo off and dry it up a little bit with a towel, be gentle and don’t squeeze it.

Apply a little amount of the wig conditioner, avoiding the cap. Gently spread the conditioner over the length of the wig and rinse it away in a cold water and dry it up with a towel, remember not to squeeze it.

Now you are ready to give your wig some “space” for drying. Place it on the wig stand, or place it on a can or bottle. Don’t use the hairdryer, avoid the direct sunlight and never brush your wig while it’s wet, It will cause the hair loss. Just give it some time, before it air dries.

Wig Stand

Frequently washing your wig will decrease its life length, I usually wash them after 5 times I wear it.

Synthetic wigs are heat sensitive, don’t use heated styling tools if your wig does not have the heat resistance label. L-email Wig are heat resistance. Wigs’ temperature range is 250-300°F(120-150°C) for hot irons, 160-175°F (70-80°C) for hot water.

If you carefully follow those steps, your wig will look awesome all the time you wear it. The proper care can provide the maximum lifespan and save your money.
